In the mid-19thC changes in employment practices and rising wages meant that ordinary working people found themselves with leisure time and spare money. All sorts of establishments arose to fulfil the new demand for entertainment, many of them aimed at keeping people out of the pub. Meet 10minues before tour time on the corner of Blue Boar Street and Alfred Street, outside the Bear Inn, Oxford OX1 4EH.
